Melco Crown Sets its Sights on New Gaming Market Hotspost Japan, Says Will Do What it Takes for Licensing
Melco Crown’s Entertainment Chairman and CEO, Lawrence Ho anounced this week that when it comes to investment and development to create a casino resort in Japan, there are no limits. The company is ready to do whatever it takes to outbid its rivals to obtain an integrated resort in the country.
Ho says that their commitment to Japan is long term and the excitement and honor of this new opportunity is transformational. MCE’s determination to create the first integrated casino resort will see them work with the Japanese government as well as local partners and the budget has no ceiling as they ‘need to win.’
Ho says he personally along with his executive management team have researched and studied the market for over a decade. Their research and excitement for the new prospect has made them;
“thrilled by the active approach of the Japanese government on the recently passed integrated resort legislation,” Ho added.
The new venture is met with 100% agreement from CFO and MCE EVP, Geoffrey Stuart Davis who commented on MCE seeking licensing,
“We believe that a culturally-sensitive, socially responsible, innovative integrated resort operator who also recognizes the importance of collaboration and partnership is the key element in an IR development. We respectfully look for guidance from the Japanese government regarding the approach to building and operating integrated resorts in Japan because we believe they know what is best for the Japanese people and the national and local economies.”
