888 Granted a Portugal License, Operator Now Has Approval to Offer Poker, Slots and French Roulette from Portuguese Gambling Regulator Serviços de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos (SRIJ)
888 was granted a Portugal license this week by the Portuguese regular, Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos. Being awarded the online casino license allows for 888 to expand further beyond the regulated markets. Portuguese customers will be able to enjoy 888 content including a wide selection of poker variants, table games and slots.
888 will also utilize its poker license with allowing for Portuguese players to get in on the poker action with Spanish markets thanks to the liquidity sharing agreement. The current liquidity agreement allows for France and Italy to share its poker network with one another even though 888 doesn’t have an active license in one of the markets. This will be a first for 888, entering the European markets with a pooled liquidity.
888’s newly appointed Chief Executive, Itai Pazner commented on the approval of the new license saying that receiving the approval is another important “step in 888’s growth strategy which is focused on diversification and expansion across regulated markets.”
Pazner also said that launching the brand across Portugal opens up the doors to growth opportunities and launching with the interstate poker liquidity network is a big move for the company.
