Finnish gambling monopoly Veikkaus is to suspend certain advertising activities until the end of September while it undertakes a major review of its marketing strategy.
Certain advertising activities are to be suspended by the Finnish gambling monopoly, Veikkaus. Veikkaus said until the end of September specific advertisements would be suspended after a major review of the market strategy is complete. There’s been tons of backlash and criticism received by Veikkaus regarding the content and focus of the marketing efforts across social media and other traditional advertising boards.
Mistakes with marketing have been admitted to by the monopoly. With this being said, suspending advertisements will be the perfect opportunity for changes to prevent similar issues from happening in the future. Some of the changes will include policies, operations, marketing processes and interpretations. While the extensive review is taking place Veikkaus said they will also be suspending all purchasing advertising as well.
Veikkaus said they take full responsibility for their ads that do not comply with company approval guidelines. They apologized for the anger it has caused and said they have very much so learned from their mistakes and are trying to correct the situation. The gambling monopoly has been facing backlash and pressure by consumers to make themselves look more appealing in Finland. They gained a not so good reputation lately for fending off its offshore operator competition.
