DraftKings Appoints New Head of Sportsbook in Order to Complete Hopes of New Sportsbook
Sean Hurley is the newly appointed Head of Sportsbook for DraftKings. DraftKings announced the appointment this week. Hurley will be responsible for building, driving daily operators and launching the new daily fantasy sports betting vertical of the company.
DraftKings spoke on the appointment saying that Hurley will prepare a sportsbook as a “potential new line of the business”, if the US Supreme Court allows the national market to be expanded across the US.
Hurley will report directly to Matt Kalis, Co-founder and Chief Revenue officer for DraftKings. Kalis said that “Sean brings a wealth of gaming experience to DraftKings and furthers our ability to be a leader in the sports betting market.”
Hurley joins DraftKings from sports betting technology supplier Amelco. Hurley has lots of experience under his belt and is suitable for the position. Before Amelco Hurley worked with online sportsbook and casino provider Whale Global.
New Jersey is trying their hardest to overturn the 1992 Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act. This act makes it illegal to operator, sponsor, license, authorize and promote sports betting in the states. The only state as of right now that is licensed to offer said activities is Nevada.
