Mark Wahlberg Plays into His New Role as “The Gambler” and Loses Big After Winning Three Hands on Blackjack
Mark Wahlberg is living up to his role in the new movie, The Gambler. He is definitely playing the part of James Caan with trying his luck at the tables in Macau. He played a few hands of blackjack, won and then headed over to the roulette wheel.
What started out as a not so bad night quickly turned. Mark, feeling lucky when he left the blackjack table decided to take all of his $45,000 winnings and place it all on black, and lost every penny. He claims he was acting the part of his character, but low and behold it didn’t work out as planned.
Mark commented on his single lost bet saying, “I hit blackjack three times. Needless to say, I won a lot of money. And like my character in the movie, I took every chip off the table and walked right over to the roulette wheel, put it all on black… and lost everything.”
He may not have been so lucky at the roulette wheel, but may make up for it if he gets the pardon he is looking for in Massachusetts for the mistakes he’s made in the past. He says he has been working hard to correct his mistakes and that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
The Gambler premieres Christmas Day and stars Mark Wahlberg as Jim Bennett a man “who leads a secret life as a high-stakes gambler. Always a risk-taker, Bennett bets it all when he borrows from a gangster and offers his own life as collateral.”
