Australian Businessman Claims to Be Bitcoin Founder Satoshi Nakamoto
Craig Wright, Australian businessman has come forward claiming that he is the founder of Bitcoin, and Satoshi Nakamoto as the community knows him as. Over the course of the years there have been many assumptions on who it was that invented the cryptocurrency.
Wright gave an interview to the BBC explaining he has been operating under the name of Nakamoto, and that he can provide the proof needed that he is the one that created the digital currency. He explained that during the early stages of the currency’s creation he signed messages using cryptographic keys.
Craigh Wright founded the digital currency back in 2009. He also let his identity be known to the Economist and GQ. During his interview with the BBC he said
“these are the blocks used to send 10 Bitcoins to Hal Finney in January 2009, the first Bitcoin transaction.”
This is all the proof needed for some in the Bitcoin community, but some want more proof claiming this just isn’t enough. Why did Wright come forward? Late last year his home was raided by Australian police after a couple websites leaked some transcripts of legal meetings that identified him as the founder.
