Wynn Las Vegas announced they have received several awards or certifications for its dedication of creating and maintaining environmental-friendly structures with its casino resorts.
The Four Green Globes awards are one of the highest recognized certification to receive. The awards are issued by the Green Building Initiative, a nonprofit organization that inspires a different approach for energy-efficient sustainable structures.
“We continuously examine every aspect of our resorts in order to protect the environment as much as possible,” said Erik Hansen, Chief Sustainability Officer for Wynn Resorts. “In many cases this can mean developing entirely new systems as solutions, which have served as a roadmap for our future developments and helped redefine green building practices on the Las Vegas Strip.”
To be recognized and be the recipient of a Four Green Globe award you must meet certain criteria, all in which Wynn Las Vegas did. Some of the criteria are water conservation, efficiency, waste management, heating and cooling, pollution control, and more. Wynn Resorts was recognized firstly for its opening of Wynn Solar Field last month. Wynn dedicated a 160-acre solar energy lot that will eventually be used to power its 280,000 square foot resort with renewable energy.
