Kansspelautoriteit, Dutch Regulatory Body Announced the Appointment of a New Chairman René Jansen
René Jansen, former Dutch Health Authority Executive is the new appointee for the gambling regulatory starting October 1st this year.
Jansen joins the regulator the appropriate experience. Jansen served several management roles with the Ministries of Economic Affairs and Social Affairs and Employment as well as the Dutch Competition Authority. Jansen is replacing Jan Suyver in October. The regulator also announced the appointment of a new Vice-Chairman, Bernadette van Buchem. Van Buchem will start her new position starting October 15th. Van Buchem is currently serving as the Affairs Director for the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets. She also has management experience with the group of interim managers for the ABD Interim, a Dutch government group.
With the new appointments there is hope that the Dutch parliamentarians will be motivated to move with the Remote Gaming Bill. The Remote Gaming Bill will regulate legalize online gambling in the Netherlands. Legalizing licensed online gambling will be a big movement for the country. The bill is currently stuck in the Upper House of the Dutch parliament, two years after being passed by the Lower House.
