eCOGRA Announced Updates are Being Made to Ensure Operators Globally Adhere to the Self-Regulatory Standards for Upholding Best Practices

eCOGRA Updates Announced to Uphold Global RegulationeCOGRA released new practices are being carried out to ensure casinos are following the new guidelines enforced by the European Commission regarding player protection.

eCOGRA (eCommerce Online Gaming Regulation & Assurance) is an independent agency that was established in 2003 for player protection with online casinos and self-regulation in the online gaming industry. This online casino regulator is approved by all regulatory bodies in the UK and boasts its seal of approval on many accredited sites throughout the industry.

The new practices are owed to the proposed draft issued by the European Commission to protect players and other information regarding money laundering and security. Reviews of current practices are continuously being carried out with eCOGRA provisions, meaning any necessary change needed to ensure stricter guidelines for player protection will be refined. The new updated provisions are structured in ISO/IEC 27001:2013 as well as proposals for the European Parliament’s Fourth European Union Anti-Money Laundering Directive, protection of players for online services.

Currently, there are a total of 14 jurisdictions in which the testing agency performs regular audits to make certain operators are following their strict guidelines. The following jurisdictions are; Alderney, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark (all 5 certification categories), Estonia, First Cagayan, Gibraltar, Isle of Man, Italy, Kahnawake, Latvia, Malta, Spain (both testing categories) and the United Kingdom.

Jeanne Ferreira, eCOGRA Regulatory Compliance manager commented on the changes stating, “The Demand for the eCOGRA Safe and Fair seal continues to grow,” and that “the latest amendments to the eGAP Requirements provide confidence that eCOGRA’s requirements are keeping pace with international developments.

About 90% of the approved operators reviewed here in our listings adhere to the strict guidelines put fourth by the eCogra standards. The update help us to keep players safe and that our criteria for licensed and regulated operators are met, informing players of operating standards for each online casino.
