Iowa dominates its first full month of sports betting activities according to a new financial report that was published this week with $40 million of wagers
Sports wagering revenues reached an astonishing high of $4.96 million for the month. Online betting activities were the most popular form of gambling across the state for the month reported. The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission reported that players across the state placed a total of $38.5 million in bets in the month of September.
The report also included $33.6 million was the number of wins with licensed operators paying more than $334,550 in taxes. Players wagered more for online activities than they did at retail locations with a total amount of $21.8 million spent online. Operators generated right at $2 million in collective revenues from online activity. Land-based activities did generate more than $2.9 million even though punters spent less at retail sites. The amount of retail sportsbook revenues was reported to be right around $16.7 million. William Hill and the Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casio were the leaders in terms of operations. The two generated $1.5 million in sports book rvenues with a $14.5 million earning in sports wagers.
