Pennsylvania Shows Best Gambling Revenue Figures Ever as Casino’s Show Record Breaking December Percentages
A 3.4% increase in gambling revenues for the 2015 has Pennsylvania recording one of its best years yet. The state houses 12 casinos in which all 12 accumulated $3.17 billion for its full gaming year last year. It beat its previous record set back in 2012 according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
Total revenues generated since the first casino opened its doors is more than $22.6 billion. The first casino opened in 2006. Gross revenues amounted to $808.14 for table games which is an increase of 8% compared to 2014. Slot machines were up 2% amounting to $2.37 billion in generated earnings.
“The casino gaming market remains strong in Pennsylvania. This is good news for state residents who once again saw a return of nearly $1.4 billion in tax revenue that is used by the commonwealth and communities state-wide for a myriad of projects, and to all homeowners for a reduction in their school property taxes,” said PGCB Chairman, David M. Barasch.
If land-based revenues are any indication that online gambling will get approved sometime this year, it would be safe to say it will, but that remains to be seen with the delays the state has already experienced with getting it to pass.
