More Operators Close Door Behind Them as Major Online Casinos Leave Australia Market
The gambling market in Australia is dwindling down to nothing. It has been literally destroyed thanks to the new amendments of the local governments gambling legislation that started this month. The Interactive Gambling Amendment Bill 2016 is aiming to abolish the online poker industry, and is succeeding to do so with operators pulling out of the market and closing the door behind them without looking back.
The market has already seen Vera&John, 888 Poker, 32Red, PokerStars and PartyPoker leave. The latest operators to follow suit are Genesis Global Limited and the Mansion Group as well as Fortune Lounge. All new signups and transactions have been stopped. It’s a guarantee that more operators will soon be behind the ones that already left the market. Especially since Australian authorities are focusing on closing the loopholes that allows for foreign operators to offer Aussie players different games.
The reason behind the government’s actions is to protect its players. What the actions did was not only protect its players, but it hurt the local market with everyone leaving. Players aren’t too happy about the decision with them losing reputable operators and sites to play at, but what can they do?
