This is the Month for Spain to Hand Out Poker Liquidity Licenses
January is the month for Spain’s gambling regulator to start handing out online poker player liquidity licenses. December 29th Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego announced it signed into law the authorization for licensed online poker operators the approval of sharing liquidity.
The authorization allows for all Spanish-licensed online poker operators to share its player pool with Italy, France and Portugal. The liquidity sharing plan was agreed upon with all four European Nations last year. The agreeance came easy as it would boost the online poker market generating more revenues for each of the regulated markets.
The ‘resolution will take effect once its published in the Official State Gazette sometime this month said the DGOJ. Special licenses will be issued for cross-border play with the three of the nations, but in the coming weeks with France.
Italy and Portugal haven’t made their announcement when their expected to join the online pool. The DGOJ says they are aiming to benefit from the expansion and approval of the international liquidity sharing. The DGOJ also admits that allowing the liquidity pool isn’t the best option because of previous attempts from other markets “detrimental to tax collection”.
