New Philippines President Wants to Stop the Proliferation of Online Gambling in Addition to Revoking Existing Licences
The new President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte told the Cabinet that he is going to put a stop to what he called was a ‘proliferation’ to online gambling. The new president has a reputation for having a direct approach with his attitude. He already sent out an order that reads, “Online gambling must stop…it’s out of control in PAGCOR (Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation).”
He didn’t stop there! He told the Chief of PAGCOR, Andrea Domingo to withdraw all licenses that have been given to online gambling. He said, “There is no way of government collecting taxes there online. How do you collect taxes there? Not exactly the taxes but I do not want a proliferation of gambling activities all over the country.”
The new president, on his first day of being in office declared war on corruption with the government, no matter which level it’s on. He ordered a government hotline that is open 24/7 for people to report the indecencies to his office.
Duterte has plenty more presidential agendas on his list. His next move is going to be to try and cut down on the red tape with regards to Filipino workers and delays with serving the public.
