Rhode Island’s sports betting revenues for the month of October has seen a significant decline.
September seen a record with its highest-ever handle with operators taking in $2.5 million. For the month of October, players wagered a total of $28.3 million on sports, making the month of October falling short by 2.3%.
Online sportsbook handles increased 78% compared to September’s totals. The online sports betting market just opened on September 4th. Winnings from online wagers doubled from September amounting to $5.4 million for October. Online revenues were down by 13.7% amounting to $442,686.
The winning operator for the month was Lincoln Casino, Twin River’s flagship brand. The casino earned $18.4 million in sports wagering stakes while the casino sector earned $1.7 million in wagers. Twin River Tiverton came in second place earning $4.1 million for online wagers and $349,607 in revenues. Twin River’s handle increased by 14.1% while handle revenues fell 20.3%. As of right now, both Twin River venues are the only licensed facilities in the state to accept legal sports betting wagers.
