Scientific Games and IGT Enter New Patent Cross Licensing Deal

Two Major Gambling Suppliers Enter Agreement Patent Cross-Licensing Deal

Tuesday, a statement was released confirming the latest agreement patent cross-licensing deal between two major gambling providers. Scientific Games and IGT announced they reached an agreement of what is being called one of the biggest market rivals the industry has seen.

International Game Technology Plc released a short press release, but gave no pertinent details of how the deal would play out. They didn’t disclose if Scientific Games would have access to the market outside of Macau to offer specific live deal games or not.

This isn’t the first cross-licensing deal IGT has announced. They entered an agreement just like it back in October 2016 with Aristocrat Leisure Ltd where the two brands entered a “comprehensive cross-licensing agreement” that would cover all “intellectual property involving game features and system patents”.  IGT also entered an agreement with Aruze Gaming and Konami Gaming Inc.

The only details that were made available were that IGT and Scientific Games will now be able to offer games using game features that are patented from each other’s portfolios and from other providers that are part of IGT’s games pool. Financial terms were not released at this time.
