Rhode Island Lottery Reports Month-on-Month Sports Betting Revenue Increase
The Rhode Island Lottery reported month-on-month sports betting revenue increases for the month of August. The Lottery reported that punters spent more than $10 million on legal wagering for the month with overall revenues amounting to $851,788. This figure is up from what was reported for the month of July, $827,579. A total of $10.6 million was wagered by players with winning a collective of $9.2 million. The primary destination for sports betting in the state was the Twin River Casino Resort in Lincoln. The casino resort posted $607,836 in revenues for the month. Twin River Tiverton gained a boost in its revenues with a 18.7% gain compared to July.
Year to date financials which cover the months of July and August seen sports betting revenues amounting to $1.7 million off a handle of $18.4 million with punters winning a total of $16.5 million for the first two months of the financial year. Rhode Island was still short with its monthly records despite the improvements for August. Revenues across the board are likely to improve for September after the soft launch of mobile wagering across the state with one casino venue and more to follow later in the month.
