JDigital, Spanish iGaming operator association, has proposed some changes to the code of conduct for gambling advertising: three principles related to ethics, specifically truthfulness, responsible gambling and the protection of minors.
Some of the proposed changes include an outright ban on all betting adverts that are broadcast during live sporting events.
The DGOJ, Spanish gambling regulator, Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego has adopted the proposed changes and are due to go into effect starting January 15, 2020. The DGOJ said the new rules are included for all forms of promotion, advertising, sponsorship and all other commercial communications. There are three principles included in the amendment codes; ethics, specifically truthfulness, responsible gambling and the protection of minors.
Outright bans will be of significant measures for all live broadcasts. The new code states that in terms of ethics, all adverts cannot mislead consumers, lead to confusion with lack of data or facts and must be true. All licensees must contact the DGOJ if there will be third-party controlling their advertising.
All communications and self-promotions must include detailed terms and conditions of the said bonus offer as well. Credit offers to players are prohibited too especially the offers that suggest continuous play of a game or skill of the player.
