Platinum Plus Online Casino Scam

We received an email from one of our site visitors yesterday that inquired about the validity of an email they received telling them they had won 945,000 GBP. The email had an attached pdf file that opened up with this:

Confirmation of ₤945,000.00 GBP/ Email Address with Ticket No: 4-24-45-46-52-1
We are happily announce the official publication results of Computer Ballot Draw, Electronic On-line Lottery
organized by the Platinum Plus Online Casino held on January 2012 and the result were release this 24th
January 2012 by TOCOP in conjunction with the GCC Countries and Board of Trustees.
NOTE: Your Email Address has been picked from Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Foreign Trade
Division/Businesss Directory Organization in GCC Countries. This is a scientific email program draw in which
your email address was used. It is a promotional program that encourages Business Users, Organization and
Individuals as you do not require buying a ticket to enter.

As you might notice the above confirmation info is riddled with grammatical errors from the start (We are happily announce). That is the first red flag or actually the second because we can plainly see it is a get something for nothing scam that has all the tell tale signs of the 4-1-9 Nigerian Advance Fee Fraud.

The confirmation letter also goes on with a lot of important sounding things like “TOCOP in conjunction” (don’t even know what the TOCOP is, “GCC Countries” (Apparently Arab countries now love to give out millions in GPB). What does a “scientific email program” even mean???

And get this. These scammers even ripped off the logo from the legitimate (and CSR Approved Casino) Platinum Play.

I could go on and on about this scam but the bottom line is this; If you get an email from some casino called “Platinum Plus Online Casino” or platpluscas.co.uk or pponcas.com it is a scam. They are trying to capitalize on the legitimate, licensed, and regulated online casino Platinum Play.

If you are not sure what “advance fee fraud” is, Google it. These types of scams come in many forms and we highly recommend that anyone not familiar with them take the time to educate themselves.

  1. Thanks for this information – I got caught in exactly the same scam, and stupidly engaged in correspondence with these people, and phone calls! I now know it for what it is. Beware!

  2. I have just received the same email for a draw “held on APRIL 2012” – ‘they’ haven’t even bothered to change the Ticket No: 4-24-45-46-52-1 or amount won ₤945,000.00 GBP – luckily these days I’m skeptical enough to first ‘Google’ anything looking too good to be true, so, much as I could really use the ₤s on my pension, thank you for the warning and I will be giving this email the delete button it deserves!

  3. un-real i too received the e-mail april 2012,with same numbers, shame on who ever did this. isnt there a law against false and misleading things – these people should be sued locked up or both.

  4. Received that type of e-mail on 16.4.12.

Same ticket number and same amount.

Looked up platinum plus on line casino on google and the above website and report came up.

I live in Australia and I forwarded the
e-mail and attachment to the local authority that deals with internet scams and fraud for action.

Since I don’t believe that someone gives away that kind of money and the confirmation by the above report , for which I am grateful. I decided to report it and I included this website in the e-mail to the local authority.

    Thanks Rick from CSR.

  5. Regarding the Platinum Plus online Casino scam, as I don’t have anything to steal I played along further and got a facinating email with pdf att requesting 1800 GBP for someone to collect my winnings for me. Naturally I had to fax I.D. to them. But the best part is they gave me a name and address to send the Western Union wire to. If anyone wants it I can post the pdf somewhere.
    Let me know.
    Bill

  6. I live in Australia and also received the exact same email on the 15/4/2012. I was very excited but dubious, thinking all week on how to spend the money lol. Today I have been researching on the net and this company does not exist in the UK. I have contacted the West Midlands Police (Birmingham) in the UK and reported this scam. If you receive one of these emails do not open the attachment it may contain tracking viruses for identity theft. Just delete straight away. Hopefully this group will be caught and arrested soon.

    Send them NO personal information,
    Julie.

  7. Platinum Plus Casino is nothing but a big scam , they have the same games as the other casinos like ” Ruby Fortune ” but the payout is so bad .. i have been playing with platinum play for over 2 months now and I lost so much money without even hitting a good bonus round 2 times .

think about it this was , in order for you to hit a $500 bonus you need = Deposit at least $2000 and bet at least $3 .

Please , keep your money in your pocket and stay away from this casino .

PLUS , THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS VERY BAD … THEY IGNORE YOU ALL THE TIME YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT HOURS FOR THEM TO FIX AN ISSUE .

My name is Morat and i am from Canada .
